It has been a memorable start to the summer for Newsells Park Winery, with two special events celebrating both our own heritage and the wider British thoroughbred breeding industry.

The first was our Nathaniel Eclipse Party on 4 July, where Wine Club members joined us to celebrate the centenary of Newsells Park Stud. Against the backdrop of the estate’s beautiful gardens and paddocks, guests enjoyed an afternoon combining premium English sparkling wine, exceptional food and world-class racing.

Our Nathaniel Blanc de Blancs and Shambolic Rose Reserve was served alongside seasonal canapés created by the award-winning Fox & Hounds gastropub, while live coverage from Sandown Park’s Coral-Eclipse meeting was shown on the big screen. Guests also took part in a sweepstake on the day’s racing, with Wine Club member Chris Garwood claiming the top prize. Chris, along with the other top ten finishers, took home a bottle of our vintage 2014 Blanc de Blancs, Nathaniel Eclipse.

A particular highlight of the afternoon was a visit to meet our stallion who inspired these wines, Nathaniel, to give him his favourite treat, some polos.

Just a few days later, Newsells Park Winery was delighted to sponsor the drinks reception at the Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association (TBA) Flat Breeders’ Awards.

Held at the beautiful Chippenham Park on 8 July, TBA members and their guests were welcomed with a glass of our Classic Cuvée, Shastye, named in honour of our exceptional broodmare.

Purchased by Klaus J. Jacobs and John Warren for 625,000gns at the 2005 Tattersalls December Sale, Shastye proved to be an extraordinary investment. Her yearlings have realised more than £15 million at public auction, while she produced three Group 1 winners – Japan, Mogul and Secret Gesture – firmly establishing her place among the elite broodmares of her generation.

The evening celebrated the achievements of British-bred successes in the thoroughbred breeding world, including thoroughbreds, breeders and stud. We were proud to be associated with such a prestigious event and many congratulations to all the winners.
