An afternoon of Bloodstock and Bubbles
Guests enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at Newsells Park.
Guests enjoyed an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at Newsells Park in April, offering a rare insight into both our elite bloodstock operation and the continued development of our vineyard and first harvest.
The afternoon began at the Manor, before guests were taken on guided tours of the stud and vineyard. Stud manager Julian Dollar and racing manager Gary Coffey gave visitors a fascinating glimpse into daily stud life, meeting a selection of mares and foals. These included the mare Legerete with her foal, a half-brother to the exciting four-year-old Damysus by the stud’s stallion Nathaniel, a mare called Evita Peron with her foal by Isaac Shelby, another one of the stud’s stallions, and the mare Many Tears and her Blue Point foal.
The guests were also treated to a parade of all four of the stud’s stallions. Nathaniel, the top-class racehorse and Classic-producing sire who inspired our Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine, Frankel’s Gr.1 producing sire Without Parole, the speedy A’Ali, and Isaac Shelby who has his first foals this year.
The tour continued across the 1,200-acre estate to the vineyard, where following a stroll through the vines our vineyard manager, Scarlett Willson, shared insights into vine care, the growing environment and our inaugural harvest last year.
Guests then returned to the Manor to enjoy a relaxed tasting of our Newsells Park sparkling wines on the terrace overlooking the gardens and paddocks. Head Winemaker Nick Lane introduced the collection and gave an overview on each of the wines. Seasonal canapés from the award-winning Fox and Hounds gastropub were served, providing the perfect accompaniment to an enjoyable and informative afternoon.
Each guest also received a bottle of our popular Rosé Reserve, Shambolic, to enjoy at home.
