Guests toast the launch of the Nathaniel Eclipse at our Coral-Eclipse Summer Garden Party

Members recently celebrated the launch of our newly released Library Wine — the 2014 Blanc de Blancs Nathaniel Eclipse — and enjoyed seeing Nathaniel himself.

Wine Club Members and their guests gathered on Saturday 5th July at Newsells Park Manor to celebrate the launch of our newly released Library Wine — the 2014 Blanc de Blancs Nathaniel Eclipse — at our Coral-Eclipse Summer Garden Party, held on the same day as this year’s running of the prestigious Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes.

On arrival, guests were welcomed with a glass of this premium English Sparkling Wine, which has been aged on lees for a decade. A seasonal selection of summer canapés, prepared by the award-winning local gastro pub The Fox & Hounds, perfectly complemented the wine.

The Nathaniel Eclipse pays tribute to our Classic sire Nathaniel’s victory in the 2012 Coral-Eclipse at Sandown Park. During the event, guests could relive Nathaniel’s triumph and watch this year’s live race on a large screen in the garden. A sweepstake on the racing offered the chance to win a special gift-boxed bottle of the newly launched wine, with proceeds of over £700 donated to our chosen charity, the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

A highlight of the day for many was a visit to our stallion unit to see Nathaniel. A top-class racehorse in his day, Nathaniel not only won the Coral-Eclipse but also the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Now a leading European sire, he has produced multiple Classic winners, including champions of both the Derby and the Oaks at Epsom.

Throughout the afternoon, guests sipped the Nathaniel Eclipse and our popular Rosé Reserve, named after our exciting young broodmare Shambolic, while enjoying the glorious setting of Newsells Park Manor and its gardens.
