Tasting Notes
This is quietly delicious wine, with zesty lemongrass notes that are subtly flavoured with honey and a whisper of ginger on the finish. It has a creamy and luxurious texture and the more savoury, toasty, brioche-like flavours we associate with mature fine sparkling wine.
Suggested Pairings
Perfectly paired with British cheeses such as a fresh lemon-touched pressed curd cheese or a thyme-scented fresh goats cheese. Lovely with contemporary Thai or modern Indian dishes with herbs and spices, especially those with ginger and chili. Excellent with seafood dishes such as classic Lobster Thermidor.
About Nathaniel Eclipse
Nathaniel, a top-class racehorse and Classic producing sire, is described by some as a ’national treasure’ in the world of elite thoroughbred breeding. Having won the prestigious Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 2011 at Ascot as a three-year-old, Nathaniel displayed remarkable courage to triumph again at the highest-level to claim victory in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse at Sandown the following year. Bred and raced by the Rothschild family, he also boasts an exceptional pedigree. He is sired by the legendary Galileo, while his dam Magnificient Style holds a distinguished place in breeding history as an influential ‘blue-hen’ mare, as the dam and grandam of numerous elite racehorses. Nathaniel retired to stud at Newsells Park Stud in 2013 and is now a leading sire in Europe.
Nathaniel Eclipse's Progeny
Nathaniel’s outstanding progeny are headlined by the exceptional Champion filly Enable, a winner of 11 Group 1 races, including the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes three times, dual winner of the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, and the Epsom Oaks Classic. His Classic-winning progeny also include Epsom Derby hero Desert Crown, Irish Oaks winner You Got To Me and Prix de Diane winner Channel - making him the only active sire this century to have produced winners of the English, Irish, and French Oaks. Nathaniel remains a leading force at stud, having sired nearly 80 horses that have won or been placed in elite-level Stakes races across the globe.
